Chandigarh. The Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, accompanied by the Chief Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, Shri H. Rajesh Prasad, and other senior officials, today visited Manimajra to review healthcare, education and public utility facilities, with a focus on strengthening citizen welfare and service delivery.

Visit to Civil Hospital, Manimajra

At Civil Hospital, Manimajra, the Administrator was welcomed by the area Councillor. Doctors briefed him about the functioning of the registration and payment counters, Emergency OPD and emergency ward. The Governor interacted with patients admitted in the emergency ward and enquired about their treatment and recovery.

He later reviewed key medical facilities including the Surgery OPD, Orthopaedic OPD, Labour Room, Children’s Ward, Phototherapy Unit and Gynaecology Ward. During his interaction with patients, attendants and visitors, he sought feedback on the quality of healthcare services being provided. Medical officers also briefed him about OPD operations and ABHA-related digital health facilities.

The Administrator further inspected sanitation arrangements in the hospital and expressed satisfaction that the institution is adequately catering to the healthcare needs of local residents.

Focus on Better Public Services

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria said that such visits are undertaken not merely as inspections, but as part of a continuous effort to review public infrastructure and identify ways to further enhance facilities for citizens.

Officials said the visit reflects the Chandigarh Administration’s commitment to ensuring accessible, efficient and people-centric public services, especially in key sectors like healthcare and civic amenities.
