CHANDIGARH: Nitin Jain, City Editor, The Tribune, has been selected to receive the prestigious ‘Legacy of Kindness Award’ at the upcoming CineKind Awards 2026.
The unique initiative, now in its second year, was created by the Film Federation of India (FFI)—the country’s largest federation of film professionals—in partnership with People for Animals (PFA), India’s largest animal welfare organization. The platform was established to specifically recognize and celebrate compassion toward animals through cinema and the mainstream media.
An expert jury comprising distinguished members of the film and media industry selected Jain for the honor in recognition of his longstanding compassion and dedicated efforts to promote kindness and public awareness regarding animal welfare.
The CineKind platform distributes ten exclusive awards annually, spanning various categories to honor compassionate feature films, actors, journalists, documentary filmmakers, and photographers. Ahead of the ceremony, the selected awardees have been invited to record a special video message detailing their work and commitment to voiceless animals, which will be broadcast to the audience during the event.
The high-profile CineKind Award Ceremony is scheduled to take place on October 4, 2026, starting at 6:30 PM at The Leela in Mumbai. The gala event and subsequent dinner are expected to bring together an estimated 500 attendees. The guest list features leading names from the Indian film industry, prominent politicians, media veterans, and business leaders, all gathering for an evening dedicated to celebrating individuals who utilize their professional influence to foster a kinder, more empathetic world.
