PANCHKULA: The Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) celebrated its 51st Raising Day, marking the completion of 50 years of its establishment, with great enthusiasm on May 15, 2026. The golden jubilee event was held at the Indradhanush Auditorium in Sector-5, Panchkula.
The ceremony was graced by Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal as the Chief Guest. Several prominent dignitaries attended the milestone celebration, including Haryana Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Shruti Choudhry, Punjab Water Resources Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal, and Rajasthan Water Resources Minister Suresh Singh Rawat.

Chairman’s Address: BBMB Chairman Manoj Tripathi commenced the program by highlighting the board’s historic achievements and its continued commitment to setting benchmarks in power generation, water management, and environmental balance.

Commemorative Release: The attending ministers and dignitaries released a special Coffee Table Book dedicated to BBMB’s glorious legacy, historic achievements, and future initiatives.

Cultural Performances: Students from BBMB DAV School, Nangal, presented a colourful cultural program portraying India’s rich heritage, while students of Sarthak GMSS School welcomed guests with a disciplined Pipe Band performance.
Union Minister’s Address and Future Vision Addressing the gathering, Union Minister Manohar Lal lauded BBMB’s crucial role in nation-building, highlighting its contributions to irrigation, power generation, socio-economic growth, and balanced regional development. He noted that the board effectively caters to the needs of all partner states through the coordinated management of resources.
Looking toward the future, the Union Minister emphasized the urgent need to scale up renewable energy infrastructure. He advocated for the addition of solar power plants, increased installation of pumped storage projects (PSPs), and the development of battery storage provisions to meet the region’s rising energy demands.
The visiting state ministers also expressed their appreciation for BBMB’s unwavering commitment to efficient water and power management across the partner states.
