Chandigarh, 27 February 2025 : Panjab University, Chandigarh, has invited applications for the post of Full-time DPIIT- IPR Chair Professor under the aegis of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. This prestigious position offers an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research, policy development, and training in the field of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
The Chair Professor will be responsible for initiating, planning,implementing, and following up on research activities in the area of IPR law and policy, collaborating with national and international stakeholders, including law firms, corporate houses, government departments, public sector undertakings, and funding agencies. The role also involves planning and conducting workshops, seminars, and round-table conferences; providing expert input to the legislature, executive, and judiciary on emerging IPR trends; assisting DPIIT in IPR-related activities; and contributing to Panjab University’s vision of achieving excellence in IPR research and knowledge. The appointee will also undertake surveys, research projects, and periodic reporting to DPIIT and the University.
The applicants must be either an academic or scholar up to the rank of Professor with an outstanding track record in IPR or a retired official from IP offices with at least five years of experience as Controller of Patents & Designs, Registrar of Trademarks & Geographical Indications, or Registrar of Copyrights. Candidates should possess sound knowledge of national and international developments in the field, have an established reputation with significant contributions to IPR knowledge, and be below the age of 69 years. Desirable qualifications include teaching or research experience in premier law institutions and a proven record of innovation in research, training, and extension activities.
The position offers a consolidated remuneration of Rs 1,00,000 per month.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a walk-in interview (physical mode) on a date to be announced. Candidates must bring three copies of their CV, along with the original and one set of self-attested photocopies of academic and experience certificates. No TA/DA will be provided for the interview.
The appointment will be for one year, subject to extension. Panjab University reserves the right to not make an appointment, revise the remuneration, modify the job description, or alter the required qualifications. Latecomers will not be permitted to appear for the interview.
