March 12, 2025 : Droupadi Murmu, Hon’ble President of India said that preparing the young generation for the changing global demands is challenging task for higher education institutions. For the balanced and sustainable development of the country, it is also necessary that the benefits of education and technology reach villages. Higher education institutions like Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar have a very important role in this context. Hon’ble President Smt. Droupadi Murmu was addressing the 6th convocation programme of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar as chief guest on Monday. Shri Bandaru Dattatreya, Hon’ble Governor of Haryana and Chancellor of GJUS&T presided over the function. Shri Ranbir Singh Gangwa, Public Health Engineering and PWD Minister, Haryana was also present on the occasion.  The convocation programme was organized under the leadership of Prof. Narsi Ram Bishnoi, Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Smt. Droupadi Murmu, Hon’ble President of India said that she was happy to note that this University has a high number of students from small towns and rural areas. She urged those students to make the people of their village and city aware of the importance of education, and inspire them to get good education.

Smt. Droupadi Murmu, Hon’ble President of India said that world-class research conducted in higher educational institutions would play an important role in establishing India as a Global Knowledge Super Power. She was happy to note that its students and faculty members have made many significant achievements in various research and research projects. It has special departments for Incubation, Start-up, Patent filing and Research projects. She expressed confidence that all these efforts would develop the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship among the students and help in making India a Global Knowledge Super Power.  

The Hon’ble President told students that education is not just a means of acquiring knowledge and skills. Education is also a means of developing life values such as morality, compassion and tolerance within a human being. Education makes an individual employable as well as aware of social responsibilities. She said that entrepreneurship could help students in fulfilling social responsibilities. Entrepreneurial mindset would enable them to identify opportunities, take risks and find creative solutions to existing problems. As an entrepreneur, they could find solutions to social problems through their innovative ideas and contribute to the progress of society. She urged students to adopt the mindset of generating employment instead of the mindset of getting employment. She said that by moving forward with this mindset, they would be able to use their knowledge and skills in a better way for the welfare of the society and contribute in making India a developed nation.

Smt. Droupadi Murmu, Hon’ble President said that Guru Jambheshwar Ji, in whose honour this University is named, was a great saint and philosopher. He was an ardent advocate of scientific thinking, ethical lifestyle and environmental protection. He believed that it is the moral responsibility of humans to protect nature, to have compassion and kindness towards all living beings and to provide them protection. Today, when we are trying to find solutions to environmental problems, the teachings of Guru Jambheshwar Ji are very relevant. She expressed confidence that the teachers and students of this University would continue to contribute to the progress of society and the country by following the path shown by Guru Jambheshwar Ji.

The power of knowledge and innovation can turn challenges into opportunities: Shri Bandaru Dattatreya

Shri Bandaru Dattatreya, Hon’ble Governor of Haryana and Chancellor of GJUS&T, in his presidential address said the students that this day is not just a symbol of getting a degree, but the beginning of a new journey. This moment is an acknowledgement of the hard work and struggle of your life that you have done for years to achieve your goals. We are at a time when challenges like climate change, technological revolution and economic change are before us. The power of your knowledge and innovation can turn these challenges into opportunities.

Hon’ble Governor told the students that today’s world has become completely dependent on technology. GJUS&T has prepared you well for this technological world. The teaching and training you have received will help you deal with the challenges of the future.

Hon’ble Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatreya told the students to move ahead with new technologies. Better employment opportunities will be available. He told the students that they should become job providers, not job seekers. Referring to the number of Ph.D., postgraduate and graduate degrees and medal winners in the university, he said that he is happy that daughters are touching new heights. I congratulate them. He said that dedicating one’s life for the society and the nation is a great service. He described the life of Shri Indresh Kumar as great personality of the nation, who received an honorary doctorate degree in the convocation.

GJUST has become the first institute of the state to award degrees based on Blockchain technology : Prof. Bishnoi

Prof. Narsi Ram Bishnoi, Vice-Chancellor of the University said in his address that GJUS&T has become the first University of the state to award degrees based on Blockchain technology. The award of degrees using this technology are beginning from today’s convocation. As soon as the Hon’ble President starts awarding degrees in the convocation, the soft copy of the blockchain based degree will also be available on the mail of the degree holders. The Blockchain based degree has been digitally secured, so that their degree will be safe from any kind of alteration or fraud. With this extremely secure technology, employers will now be able to verify the authenticity and veracity of the degree instantly from any corner of the world through the online platform.

While citing the prestigious rankings received by the University at national and international level, Prof. Narsi Ram Bishnoi, Vice-Chancellor said that this University is continuously strengthening its identity on international level. He told about the establishment of the University, its development journey, infrastructure and the courses being run through regular distance education and online education. He also highlighted about the new courses started by the University and about sports and other achievements.

2090 degrees awarded in convocation:

Prof. Narsi Ram Bishnoi, Vice-Chancellor told that a total of 2090 degrees were awarded in the sixth convocation of the University. Out of these, 561 are Ph.D. degrees.  In addition to this, gold medals were also awarded to 564 students. He told that out of the total number of students studying in the University, more than 60 percent of the students come from rural background.

Shri Indresh Kumar conferred with honorary doctorate degree:

GJUS&T conferred honorary doctorate degree on Shri Indresh Kumar. As an active member of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Shri Indresh Kumar has been contributing significantly to nation building for more than half a century. His important works include rehabilitation of four lakh Kashmiri refugees, establishment of Rashtriya Muslim Manch for Hindu Muslim harmony, establishment of Vivekanand Hospital for the treatment of poor and common man, establishment of Balika Niketan, providing assistance to soldiers and their families, running Ganga Swachhata Jan Jagran Abhiyan, etc.

The academic procession was led by Dr. Vijay Kumar, Registrar at the convocation ceremony. Smt. Itishree Murmu, Daughter of Hon’ble President, Dr. Rakesh Gupta, Additional Secretary to President, Maj. Gen. Voodev Parida, VCM, Military Secretary,  Shri Sunil K. Tiwari, OSD (Research), Shri Bijaya Kumar Nayak, Additional Press Secretary, Capt (IN) R.S. Randhawa, Comptroller, President’s Household, Shri Mritunjaya Sharma, OSD to the President and Ms. Navika Gupta, Deputy Press Secretary including Smt. Savitri Jindal, MLA, Dr. Kamal Gupta, former minister and Dr. Vandana Bishnoi, first lady of the University were present.
