CHANDIGARH: In a high-scoring and thrilling encounter of the Leslie Gordon Carver U-15 Cricket Tournament, Bedi Cricket Academy showcased an exceptional batting performance to defeat Sodhi Cricket Academy by five wickets.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Sodhi Cricket Academy set a highly competitive target, putting up 181 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their designated 30 overs. The first-innings effort was anchored by a brilliant knock from Kushraj, who scored 68 runs off 64 balls, including 8 boundaries. He was well-supported by Veer Talwar, who ground out a solid 45 runs off 57 balls. Late cameos from Aarav Sharma (12 off 9 balls) and Giri Vashisht (11 runs) pushed the total past the 180-mark.
Bedi Cricket Academy’s bowling response was spearheaded by Aarav Prajapati, who dismantled the opposition’s momentum by claiming a superb 4-wicket haul for 32 runs in his 6 overs. Maaninder Singh provided excellent support from the other end, taking 2 wickets for 27 runs in his 6 overs, which included a rare maiden over. Meanwhile, Rishab Tiwari and Shaurya Rana bowled highly disciplined 6-over spells to keep the scoring rate in check.
The chase, however, belonged entirely to Rishab Tiwari. Walking out with intent, Tiwari played a sensational, match-winning knock of 102 not out off a mere 62 balls. His explosive century was studded with 12 fours and 4 towering sixes, completely taking the game away from the opposition. Opening partner Kanwar Partap played a perfect anchoring role, compiling a steady 52 runs off 74 balls to ensure stability at the other end.
Sodhi Cricket Academy’s bowling attack struggled to contain Tiwari’s onslaught, with Prabhdeep Singh (1/16), Pavitya Singh, Gurkirat, and Sahibjot Singh managing just one wicket apiece as Bedi Cricket Academy comfortably wrapped up the chase in 28.5 overs.
Unsurprisingly, Rishab Tiwari was named the Player of the Match for his outstanding, unbeaten century.
