CHANDIGARH: A grand Convocation Ceremony for students of Naturopathy and Yoga (NDDY) was organized on May 31, 2026, at the Gandhi Smarak Bhavan in Sector 16, Chandigarh. The institution, run by the Gandhi Smarak Nidhi across Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh, hosted a vibrant event that witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and distinguished health professionals.
Embracing Gandhian Values and Holistic Health
The ceremony commenced with a floral tribute to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, followed by an environmental tree plantation drive.
The event was graced by Dr. Anish Garg, Vice Chairman of the Chandigarh Sahityik Evam Sanskritik Academy, who attended as the Chief Guest, alongside Distinguished Guest Dr. Jagtar Singh Khattra, former DPI (Punjab) and former Director of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT). The dignitaries shared profound thoughts on Gandhian values, natural living, and the increasing global importance of yoga and naturopathy.
“Naturopathy and yoga are not merely systems of treatment but a way of life that promotes holistic health and well-being,” Dr. Anish Garg emphasized in his address. He actively urged the graduating class to dedicate themselves to public service and spread awareness about healthy living in society.
Dr. Khattra also congratulated the students, noting that the rising relevance of naturopathy is poised to play a highly significant role in shaping the future landscape of healthcare.
Diplomas Awarded and Cultural Celebrations
During the core of the ceremony, 17 students were officially awarded their diplomas in Naturopathy and Yoga (NDDY). The new graduates were also administered an oath of professional ethics and lifelong service.
Adding vibrancy to the academic event, a cultural segment featured highly appreciated dance performances by Anya, Deepika Malik, Vandana, and Vinita, which captivated the audience.
The programme, attended by approximately 100 participants, was efficiently coordinated by Praveen Sudhakar, Suresh Chandra Verma, and their dedicated team. Prominent attendees included Dr. Ramesh Kumar, Dr. Sanjeev Sharma, Govind Kumar, Sukhwinder, Akhilesh, Sanju, and Geeta.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks, with organizers reaffirming their unwavering commitment to promoting naturopathy, yoga, and Gandhian ideals for a healthier and more harmonious society.
