Chandigarh, August 18: In a decisive move against the international drug nexus, the Punjab Police has secured the issuance of a Blue Corner Notice against Canada-based drug smuggler Satpreet Singh Thiara alias Satta, following the meticulous efforts of the Special Investigation Team (SIT). The action comes under the state’s ongoing anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, launched on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
Satpreet Singh, a native of village Banga in Nawanshahr, had been nominated as a co-accused in the NDPS Act case registered against Bikram Singh Majithia in 2021. The FIR (No. 02, dated 20/12/21) was registered under sections 25, 27A, and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Punjab State Crime, SAS Nagar.
Investigations revealed that Satpreet Satta frequently visited India between 2007 and 2013, when the notorious Bhola drug racket was active in Punjab. He was found linked to the ₹6000 crore international drug racket and reportedly had connections with several political figures of that period.
An official spokesperson of Punjab Police confirmed that the competent authority issued the Blue Corner Notice against Satpreet Satta upon the SIT’s request.
