CHANDIGARH: Panjab University displayed absolute dominance to lift the winners’ trophy at the All India Inter-University Rowing Championship, which concluded at Sukhna Lake on May 10, 2026. During the five-day sporting event, rowers from Panjab University secured multiple medals across both the men’s and women’s events.
The closing ceremony was graced by Dr. Anmol Rattan Sidhu, Senior Advocate, Former Advocate General of Punjab, and President of both the Chandigarh Rowing Association and the Chandigarh Olympic Association, who attended as the chief guest. The event also welcomed Rajiv Sharma, Secretary General of the Chandigarh Rowing Association, and Inderpal Singh, an Olympian and Arjuna Awardee in rowing, as guests of honour.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sidhu congratulated the Panjab University rowers for their exceptional, medal-winning performances. He also commended Dr. Rakesh Malik, Director of Sports at Panjab University, for the successful organization and conduct of the five-day championship.
Emphasizing the importance of the sport, Dr. Sidhu advocated for more such rowing activities to be organized in the “City Beautiful” by the Chandigarh Rowing Association in collaboration with Panjab University. Following his address, Dr. Sidhu officially declared the championship closed, which was followed by the national anthem.
