PANCHKULA: Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh on Saturday laid the foundation stone for a much-needed Patient Lift at the Mother Teresa Saket Orthopaedic Hospital in Sector-1, Panchkula. The lift is set to be installed at an estimated cost of Rs. 73.31 lakh and is expected to be fully operational within six months. Lady Governor Smt. Mitra Ghosh was also present during the significant occasion.
During the ceremony, the Governor issued strict directives to the officers of the Public Works Department (PWD). He emphasized that the lift must be installed in strict accordance with prescribed norms and that the highest standards of quality must be maintained. Prof. Ghosh specifically noted that every material used in the installation should be of premium quality to guarantee the utmost safety and convenience for patients and their attendants.
Comprehensive Hospital Inspection
Following the foundation stone ceremony, the Governor toured the hospital premises to review the overall healthcare facilities.
Prof. Ghosh actively interacted with patients, inquiring about their well-being, ongoing treatments, and the standard of medical care they were receiving. Taking note of patient comfort, he directed the Hospital Director to ensure adequate arrangements for fans in the waiting areas outside the OPDs to provide relief to waiting patients and their families.

‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Plantation
Concluding their visit on a green note, Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh and Lady Governor Smt. Mitra Ghosh planted saplings within the hospital premises. The plantation drive was carried out under the ongoing ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, sending a strong message regarding the importance of environmental conservation.
The event was attended by several key dignitaries and senior officials, including Secretary to the Governor Sh. Vijaykumar Bhavikatti, ADC to the Governor Sqr. Ldr. P. Bharat, Hospital Director Dr. V.K. Nagpal, Deputy Commissioner Sh. Satpal Sharma, and DCP Panchkula Smt. Aditi Singh.
