Chandigarh, September 1, 2025: Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh, along with his wife Smt. Mitra Ghosh, has adopted five TB patients under the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) by providing them nutritional support.
The adoption was formalized at a programme held at Haryana Raj Bhavan on Monday, where State TB Officer Dr. Rajesh Raju and WHO Nominee Dr. Sukhwant briefed the Governor on the state’s progress in the TB campaign.
Prof. Ghosh registered himself as a Nikshay Mitra and assured full support to Haryana’s mission of becoming TB-free. Emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility, he appealed to individuals, NGOs, corporate houses, and religious bodies to step forward and support TB patients. “The fight against TB is a collective responsibility. With community participation and people’s cooperation, we will achieve the goal of a TB-free Haryana,” he said.
The Governor recalled that the Community Support Programme – Nikshay Mitra was launched on September 9, 2022, by President Smt. Droupadi Murmu under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. In Haryana, the initiative began on September 17, 2022, and nearly 2,200 villages have already been declared TB-free in its first phase.
Also present on the occasion were Secretary to the Governor Shri D.K. Behera, Senior Private Secretary Shri Jagan Nath Bains, Dr. Rakesh Talwar, State TB Programmer Dr. Jaskirat, Dr. Sandeep Chhabra, and the District TB Officer.
