Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the PM MITRA Park at Warangal in Telangana, marking a significant step in India’s textile and industrial expansion. Developed at a cost of ₹1,695.54 crore, the park is the country’s first operational PM MITRA Park and aims to strengthen India’s textile ecosystem under the government’s 5F vision — Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said the mega textile park would boost India’s textile revolution and create large-scale employment opportunities, particularly for women.
Spread across 1,327 acres, the park is strategically located near the proposed Nagpur-Vijayawada Greenfield Expressway (NH-163G) and NH-163, ensuring strong connectivity to railway networks and seaports for efficient global trade logistics.
The integrated textile park has been developed with world-class infrastructure, including an extensive road network, dedicated power substation, assured water supply and sustainable industrial systems. A Common Effluent Treatment Plant equipped with Zero Liquid Discharge technology has also been established to promote environmentally sustainable operations.
The project is expected to attract investments exceeding ₹6,000 crore, while more than 62 per cent of the park has already been allotted to industries. Officials said the park is likely to generate over 24,400 jobs across the textile value chain, with thousands of employment opportunities already created.
The Ministry of Textiles had approved seven PM MITRA parks across the country in March 2023, covering Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, to build a robust textile manufacturing ecosystem.
The Telangana government had earlier proposed the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP) at Warangal under the PM MITRA scheme in 2022. Following its approval in the Brownfield category, the project became eligible for ₹200 crore in development capital support and ₹300 crore in Competitive Incentive Support (CIS) for industries setting up units in the park.
The Detailed Project Report approved for the Warangal PM MITRA Park includes expanded infrastructure such as a Zero Liquid Discharge facility, a common boiler facility, worker dormitories and a 10 MW solar power plant.
Of the 548 acres allotted to industries, 310 acres have been allocated after the PM MITRA Park announcement. Manufacturing units in the park will also benefit from government incentive schemes, including the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.
One of the key beneficiaries, Evertop Textile and Apparel Complex Pvt. Ltd., is expected to invest ₹1,051 crore in the park and generate employment for around 12,800 people, with an estimated annual turnover of ₹1,990 crore.
The PM MITRA scheme aims to strengthen India’s textile manufacturing capabilities through central funding, modern shared infrastructure and improved investor confidence, positioning Warangal as a globally competitive textile hub.
