CHANDIGARH: Merely listening to spiritual thoughts by attending Satsang is not enough; rather, true spiritual achievement lies in incorporating the devotion gained from Satsang into one’s daily life and conduct.

These profound views were expressed by Shri Inderjit Sharma Ji, Central Knowledge Pracharak of the Sant Nirankari Mission, Delhi, while addressing thousands of devotees at a grand Satsang organized at the Sant Nirankari Satsang Bhawan in Sector-30, Chandigarh. He emphasized that through the remembrance of God (Simran), selfless service to humanity (Seva), Satsang, and genuine humility, a person can unite their life with the Formless Almighty.

The True Purpose of Human Life

Highlighting the core purpose of human existence, Shri Sharma Ji stated that human beings have not come into this world merely for material achievements, but to realize the Almighty and move toward spiritual liberation.

Referring to the teachings of Lord Mahavira, he noted that liberation is attained by seeking refuge in the Guru. Explaining the critical difference between need and desire, he cautioned that even after one’s basic needs are fulfilled, desires rarely come to an end.

“Desire is like a fire that cannot be quenched even by all the wealth in the world. Therefore, one should free oneself from unnecessary desires, develop a sense of contentment and surrender, and follow the path of Satsang, Seva, and Simran.”

Cleansing the Mind and Ego

Explaining the deep importance of Satsang, Shri Sharma Ji referred to an example given by Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji: Just as it is necessary to wash away the leftover soap from a piece of cloth after removing the dirt, it is equally important to eliminate the hidden ego after Satsang removes the impurities of the mind.

He reminded the congregation that while Satsang develops divine qualities such as humility, patience, tolerance, compassion, and love, a devotee must never become egoistic about possessing these virtues. He urged individuals to develop the silent humility and tolerance reflected by a stone lying on the road or the earth itself.

Simran as the Spiritual Foundation

Describing Simran (remembrance) as the very foundation of a spiritual life, Shri Sharma Ji clarified that it is not merely the repetition of words, but a continuous process of training the mind to remain focused on the Almighty.

Just as a person remains attentive to their work during daily activities, one can keep their mind connected with the Formless Almighty while fulfilling all family and professional responsibilities. He stressed that a householder’s life is not an obstacle on the spiritual path, but rather a perfect opportunity to practice devotion.

An Appeal to the Youth

Directing a special appeal toward the younger generation, Shri Sharma Ji urged them to make Satsang, Seva, and Simran an integral part of their lives. He emphasized that while material progress is important in the modern world, possessing strong spiritual values is what brings true beauty to life.

Earlier in the event, Shri Navneet Pathak Ji, Sanyojak of the Sant Nirankari Satsang Bhawan, Sector-30, welcomed the gathering and expressed deep gratitude to Shri Inderjit Sharma Ji on behalf of the entire Sadh Sangat for visiting Chandigarh.
