NEW DELHI: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday passed a historic resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on officially becoming the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in India’s history. Marking June 10, 2026, as a significant milestone in the nation’s democratic journey, the resolution highlighted the Prime Minister’s uninterrupted service and the unprecedented public trust placed in his leadership.
According to the official resolution, PM Modi has successfully completed 4,399 consecutive days in office as an elected Prime Minister. This achievement surpasses the previous long-standing record of 4,398 continuous days held by India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, following the country’s first democratic general elections (between 1952 and 1964).
Welfare Initiatives and Economic Milestones
The Cabinet stated that this milestone reflects sustained democratic participation and the people’s unwavering support for a leader guided by a “Nation First” resolve. The resolution prominently highlighted several of the government’s transformative welfare programs and economic achievements:

Poverty Alleviation: Helping more than 25 crore people move out of multidimensional poverty through direct benefit transfers and essential services.

Healthcare & Housing: Providing free healthcare to over 60 crore people, ensuring free foodgrain for more than 80 crore beneficiaries, and delivering pucca houses, electricity, and clean drinking water.

Agriculture & Rural Development: Expanding schemes like the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, extending Kisan Credit Cards to fishermen and pastoralists, and driving agricultural exports past the ₹5 lakh crore mark.

Startup & Innovation Ecosystem: Propelling India to become the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem, supported by youth-focused policies and achievements in the space sector, including the Chandrayaan mission.

Women Empowerment: Driving initiatives like the Lakhpati Didi program and the historic passage of legislation providing 33% reservation for women in legislatures.

Sweeping Reforms, Security, and Global Engagement
The Cabinet also took the opportunity to outline the major policy decisions and structural reforms undertaken during PM Modi’s tenure. Key highlights included the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), One Rank One Pension (OROP), the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), modern labour code reforms, the introduction of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and the historic abrogation of Article 370.
On the front of National Security, the resolution praised the government’s decisive measures against terrorism, including surgical strikes, cross-border air strikes, and Operation Sindoor. It also commended successful efforts to tackle Naxalism, broker peace agreements in the Northeast, and fortify border management.
Furthermore, the Cabinet lauded the success of domestic manufacturing campaigns like Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat, which have significantly strengthened India’s capabilities in defense and emerging technologies. India’s elevated global stature was also celebrated, referencing the successful G20 presidency, the promotion of International Yoga Day, the International Solar Alliance, and Mission LiFE.
The meeting concluded with the Cabinet extending its warmest congratulations and best wishes to PM Modi, expressing profound confidence that under his continued leadership, India is firmly on the path to becoming a fully developed nation by 2047.
