Anjaneya Tewari, Chandigarh : DAV College Chandigarh hosted a special programme today as a part of the central government’s flagship policy event, the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The event featured a live telecast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing students and the local community, emphasizing the critical importance of drug-free lifestyles, effective prevention strategies, and robust community participation in rehabilitation and awareness efforts.
The college’s National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit and the Victory Against Drug Abuse (VADA) Club actively participated in the virtual interaction with the Prime Minister under the overarching “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Campaign 2026.” The primary objective of the program was to inspire the youth to take a leading role in building a drug-free and fully developed India.
Simultaneous Venues and Coordination
The initiative was conducted under the expert guidance of the college Principal, Dr. Mona Narang. To maximize outreach and participation, the event was held simultaneously at two different locations:

Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh: A dedicated group of VADA Club students attended the virtual interaction here, with the event coordinated by Nodal Officer Dr. Karan Singh Vinayak.

DAV College Conference Hall (Sector 10): Concurrently, NSS volunteers attended the live telecast on the college campus. This segment was successfully organized and managed by NSS Programme Officers Dr. Kashma, Dr. Yogyata Pathania, and Dr. Manminder Singh Anand.
PM Modi’s Call to Action
During the virtual address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the pivotal role young people must play in eradicating the menace of drug abuse from society. He urged the youth to step forward as ambassadors of awareness, social responsibility, and positive change.
Highlighting that a “drug-free youth is the cornerstone of a Viksit Bharat,” the Prime Minister called upon educational institutions across the nation to further strengthen their awareness initiatives against substance abuse.

The interactive session successfully sensitized students to the severe and harmful effects of drug addiction. It encouraged them to engage actively in community outreach programs, awareness campaigns, and other noble initiatives aimed at promoting a healthy, responsible lifestyle.
