Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a rally in Sonipat, Haryana, on the eve of the upcoming assembly elections, launching a scathing attack on the Congress party for its alleged corruption. He specifically targeted Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over his involvement in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam, stating, “It’s only been two years, and the Congress government in Karnataka is already facing serious corruption allegations. The Chief Minister himself is implicated in a land scam, prompting the High Court to call for a thorough investigation.”
Modi criticized the previous Congress government in Haryana for exploiting farmers’ lands and claimed that the state was surrendered to middlemen and family dynasties. “Ten years ago, under Congress rule, farmers’ lands were plundered, and jobs could only be secured through deceit. Corruption permeated every institution,” he remarked.
The Prime Minister also condemned Congress for neglecting marginalized communities, stating, “Congress has consistently excluded SCs, STs, and OBCs from meaningful participation. It was Baba Saheb Ambedkar who ensured reservations for Dalits; otherwise, they would have waited indefinitely for their rights under Congress.”
Highlighting the agricultural reforms under the BJP regime, Modi emphasized that his government has committed to providing Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for 24 crops, contrasting this with Congress’s previous reluctance to support farmers. “The BJP government is continuously making decisions in the farmers’ interest,” he asserted.
Modi underscored the state’s economic growth and infrastructure advancements, noting that global companies are eager to invest in India. “When these major companies invest, the youth and farmers of Haryana will benefit immensely. The people of Haryana understand the value of a ‘double engine’ government,” he stated.
Additionally, he praised Haryana’s contributions to national achievements, particularly in sports, promising the establishment of small Olympic game nurseries in every district to nurture talent.
Haryana will head to the polls on October 5, with results for both Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir set to be declared on October 8.
